New Testament Jew Spiritual Israel
Ephesians 2:11-18 says therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. John 8 Jesus tells the Pharisees that they are not children of Abraham rather children of the devil.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word.
I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.” “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” The Pharisee that is the keeper of the law, the Jew in this context is not a child of Abraham from the law. They do not believe in Jesus and their father is the devil.
Romans 2 shows that no matter what Jew and Gentile is guilty by the law. The Gentile apart from the law will be judged because those not having the written law were a law unto themselves through conscience. The Jews were guilty as lawbreakers because they sin under the law. The argument is finished saying that both will be judged by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith or unbelief!
What does Paul say to the person that says that they are a Jew outwardly? Romans 2:28-29
A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
What is the Jew according to the New Testament?
God told Abraham that I will establish my covenant with your SEED Singular not many seed. The SEED is Jesus. So the Father established the covenant with Jesus the Son according to Galatians 3:16. So those that are the children of Abraham are those that believe in Jesus. Where did the Children of Israel come from? Abraham had Isaac. Isaac had twins Esau and Jacob.
Esau was the first born. The firstborn by law gets the birthright. Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of beans. He despised his birthright. Jacob the second born twin receives the birthright when Isaac is advanced in Age with bad vision. Jacob means deceiver. Jacob wrestles with an angel of God for a blessing and God changes His name to Israel. From Israel comes all the nation of Israel.
ESAU IS A PICTURE OF ADAM THAT SINNED AND JACOB IS A PICTURE OF THE BORN AGAIN MAN. THE SECOND BORN THAT RECEIVES THE BIRTHRIGHT. GOD CHANGED HIS NAME TO ISRAEL. NOTICE THAT THEY ARE TWINS. THE PICTURE IS THAT THEY ARE IDENTICAL. THE FIRST BORN IS THE UNREGENERATE MAN AND THE IDENTICAL TWIN BORN SECOND GETS THE BIRTHRIGHT. PICTURE OF THE BORN AGAIN MAN.
THE KILLING OF THE FIRSTBORN IN EGYPT IS ANOTHER PICTURE THAT SHOWS THE DEATH OF THE FIRSTBORN CHILD THAT DOES NOT APPLY THE SACRIFICE TO THEIR DOOR POST. THOSE THAT APPLY THE LAMB ARE SPARED SHOWING THE BORN AGAIN MAN RECEIVING THE PROMISE OF LIFE. THE FIRSTBORN THAT DIES IS THE PICTURE OF THE UNREGENERATE MAN THAT WILL DIE IN SIN. THE FIRSTBORN SON THAT LIVES IS THE PICTURE OF THE BORN AGAIN MAN.
ROMANS 9 TELLS US THAT ESAU GOD HATED AND JACOB GOD LOVED. ESAU IS THE PICTURE OF THE UNREGENERATE MAN THAT SINNED AND JACOB IS THE PICTURE OF THE BORN AGAIN MAN THAT IS IN THE SON.
Romans 9 talks about election in the context are that not all of Israel is Israel, because not all of Israel is children of the SEED of Jesus. God points out that in Isaac shall thy seed be called. Those that are not born children of promise are children of the flesh. God saying even before the children was born neither yet doing good or evil for the purpose of election standing. Not of works but of God who calls. God says that the older will serve the younger. Jacob I have loved and Esau I have hated.
God is showing us what election means here. It is about Gods mercy and compassion. God points out that in Isaac’s seed shall the call come. Esau is the unregenerate man that portrays the works of the law. Esau serves the younger Jacob. Esau God hated because of sin. Jacob is the one that God calls through the election of Jesus as the second born of the Spirit.
God finishes the text by saying that Israel sought righteousness through the Law but stumbled because it was not sought by faith. Behold I lay in Sion a rock and whoever believes on Him will be saved.
Just like Hebrews shows the pattern of all the shadows made with hands in the Old Testament. Israel in the Old Testament represents the spiritual Jew in the New Testament that is inwardly a Jew through circumcision in the Spirit. Colossians says that the circumcision in the Spirit is the cutting away of the old man for the new creation in Jesus.
Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God. Colossians 2:11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self-ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ.
There are only two fathers: God or the Devil. They both have kingdoms. God’s kingdom is expressed in Jesus not of this world System. The Devils is expressed in this world system. The Devil is the god of this world system. I John says that God is at enmity with this world system. So there is no more Jew or gentile according to Ephesians there is only children of God as Spiritual Israel or Children of the devil. You are either in faith or in unbelief.
Romans 8 says that if Christ is in you, then you are in the Spirit. You are under grace. If Christ is not in you, then you are in the flesh under the law. If you live in the flesh you will die meaning that you are not born again in context. If you are born again in the Spirit, then you will live. You mortified the deeds of the body and Christ shall quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit dwelling in you. Those that are in the flesh cannot please God, because they are not His. Whoever is born again is Spiritual Israel the elect of God through Faith in Jesus according to Romans chapters 2 and 9.
