What is original sin?
We are represented by the head of the human race as the first Adam. The first Adam is Earthly, human, corruptible as evidenced with sin and we receive the nature of sin from the first Adam. This is why it is called original sin.
The second Adam is the personification of the type of the first Adam. The second Adam is heavenly, spiritual, incorruptible as evidenced with a sinless life and we receive righteousness from Christ the second Adam when we believe as a spiritual race. The old nature is cut away through circumcision of the spirit and we are a new creation in Christ.
This is an overview to follow the lecture. The first Adam was created for us to exist, so that the second Adam could create us into a spiritual race in Christ. We could only know that we need a savior through sin and the Law revealing that sin to be a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ.
The Law is the knowledge of sin, sin is the transgression of the Law and the Law reveals our sin nature to us. Adam had to sin in order for this to happen. The scripture says that in the day that you eat the tree.
God knew Adam would eat the tree. The plan of God is not an after thought of sin, but was the plan before the foundation of the world. Christ was crucified in the mind of God before the foundation of the world.
Flesh cannot inherit eternal life, but the flesh is first and then the spiritual. God had a plan to redeem mankind to create a spiritual race in Christ, but we could only know God’s love through the cross while we were yet sinners. We can receive Christ out of our own free will and not as robots.
God did not create us programmed to love, but to choose to love as a personal relationship. God told Adam what was forbidden in the Garden of Eden. Adam disobeyed the Lord.
What sin did Adam commit that led to original sin?
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
We are all guilty of original sin from Adam eating the tree. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5). Jew and Gentiles are guilty of sin. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3). (KJV)
What is sin?
I John 3:4 says that sin is the transgression of the law. Since Adam is the head of the race, then he spread sin to all mankind through birth. Psalm 51:5 says, Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
- Sin is the transgression of the law of God
- Disobedience of the commandment
- Missing the mark
- Man’s fallen nature
In order to understand Human sin nature, you must understand headship. God only sees two types of people. Those that are flesh according to the first Adam and those that are spirit according to the second Adam.
There are two natures:
- The unregenerate person: Man sinful fallen Nature
- The Born Again person: Partakers in God’s divine nature in Jesus
You cannot have both natures.
The heads of the race:
Galatians teaches that with out Jesus those people are in the flesh or you are in the Spirit through spiritual regeneration into Jesus. The born again person is a new creation in Jesus. The old nature is crucified with Christ and that person is raised with Jesus in the newness of life as a partaker in the divine nature.
The heads of the beliefs systems:
Each nature is the result of a belief system. God is your Father or the Devil is your father as Jesus says in John 8. God is the source of truth. The devil is a liar and the source of the lie. Adam is the head of the human race and Jesus the Spiritual race. Eve ate nothing happened. They ate and both of their eyes were opened knowing sin according to Genesis 3. When we come to Jesus our eyes are opened in the spirit according to Luke 24.
The devil was the head of the lie and became the god of this world system enslaving man with the sin nature as children of disobedience. Jesus is God, and Jesus destroyed the works of the devil. Jesus fulfilled the law making many right with God in faith. We serve God in Jesus. We become partakers in Jesus divine nature.
The sin nature is of this world system and is at enmity with God. It is worldly, sensual, and demonic. The character and qualities of the sin nature are full of lust, pride and flesh. The sin nature works through the five senses, passions, desires or emotions. In the new birth Christ crucifies these senses according to Galatians 5.
How do we know sin?
The law show us our sin. Romans says that I would not know sin apart from the law, but by the law sin revived and I died. The law is the awareness of sin. Galatians 3:24 says that the law is a tutor that leads us to Jesus as well, because we see our sin. We know we need a savior. Jesus is the end of the law to those that believe.
Adam is a type of the human Adam, which means that there is a second Adam to come that will be born under the law as a man in the likeness of sinful flesh on the outward without sin on the inward. Jesus comes as a man who knew no sin, had no sin and in Him there was no sin. Jesus fulfilled the law and bore our sins on His sinless body. He conquered death in the resurrection and went into the Heavens as a forerunner creating a new spiritual race. He is the head of that race. Adam brought death to all through sin and Jesus through obedience is the gift of righteousness to all that believe. Here are the scriptures:
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
I Corinthians 15:42-48
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
When we are born of God we are changed into the image of God through the Glorious gospel and then when we are glorified we are changed into the image of God through glorification. We are changed from glory to glory.
