What is the Meaning of Born Again?
John 3:3-7 says,
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. “Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ (NAS)
A person is first born of flesh to exist as sinners from the original sin of Adam. Jesus as the second Adam creates a spiritual race in the resurrection of His body into a spiritually glorified body. Jesus as the head of the spiritual race as the first fruits of the resurrection in the spirit enters as the forerunner for us to follow through faith.
When we come to Christ through faith, then we are born of the spirit into the person of Jesus. Our body is crucified with Him until our body is resurrected as a spiritual body. We are alive to God in Christ spiritual body in the spirit realm until that time. Let’s look at how romans explains this.
What happens at the point of salvation?
Romans 6:2-11 says,
May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowin
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (NAS)
The flesh is no longer alive freeing us from the Law. The scripture says that a man is under the Law as long as he lives and is subject to its penalty to perish. We were crucified with Christ freeing us from the penalty that he took for us. We are alive to God in the Spirit in Christ spiritual person in the spirit realm. Therefore, the sin nature is no longer alive freeing you from the original sin from the head of the human race. Now that you are a new creation in the spirit, then you are under grace in the head of a spiritual race.
The end result of the Law was to perish. Christians perish for their own sin in the crucifixion of Jesus. This is why the Law is irrelevant for the Christian render inoperative or powerless.
Renewing your mind is the only necessity to grow in the faith to not allow sin to erode your faith to reject Jesus. If you look to the Law to keep it after salvation, then you fall from grace and are severed from Jesus. Christ removed all consciousness of sin.
If you have consciousness of sin and think you need to keep the Law, then you are not saved. Not using grace as a license to sin. Christian should limit their liberty in Jesus through love not to offend weaker Christians. We are to refrain from sin as the result of our changed nature, not as the result of keeping the Law.
If we miss the mark from time to time. Jesus paid for it and we keep growing in faith. Renewing our mind to rise in our spiritual comprehension of revelation to grow in the spirit.
Period! We are sanctified through the offering of the eternal Spirit and renew our mind to grow in spirit not in perfection. We are the righteousness of God in Christ. Righteousness, perfection and holiness are the result of your identity in the Person of Christ.
The Holy Spirit spiritually baptizes us into the literal spiritual body of Jesus Christ. The believer in spiritual baptism is identified with Christ in His death and is raised with Christ in the newness of life in His resurrection. The believer is a new creation in Christ.
The old person is dead in Christ and we become partakers in His nature in Him. We have been crucified with Christ; it is not the old person that lives. It is Christ that lives within me.
Our lives are hidden in Christ and He lives in our hearts. When God sees us that are born of the Spirit, God sees Jesus. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. All things have been made new. God declares us righteous and holy in Christ.
We fulfill the law in Christ, because He fulfilled for us. Christ is the end of the law to those that believe. You are a literal spiritual son or daughter of God in Christ.
This was God’s plan from the beginning. God had to make man out of the physical to create them. God’s plan was to become a part of His creation to make us His literal offspring that are born of the Spirit in His Son Jesus Christ.
God is Spirit. We are first born of water in natural birth, and then born of the Spirit in Christ. This is the born again experience. This person is a called out one. We are called out of this world system into the realm of the spirit.
What is the Church (Called out ones) in the person of Jesus in the Spirit?
I Corinthians 12:12-13 says,
For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Ephesians 4:4-6 says,
There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
Just as the physical body has many functions, the body of Jesus has many members in one body. We are spiritually regenerated into the person of Jesus at point of salvation. There is the calling out of this world system into Christ through one faith into one body of the one Lord through one spirit baptism into Jesus to communion with the Father in spirit. God is the Father of spirits made perfect in our savior as the head of the spiritual race.
