The Good News of Jesus Christ is explained in Luke 4:

Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power.  Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region.  He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.  When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boy hood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.

The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him.  He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

The Good News of Jesus Christ comes from the word:

The Strong’s Concordance number 2097 states that the word euaggelízō (from 2095 /eú, “good, well” and angellō, “announce, herald”) – properly, proclaim “the good message” (good news). In the NT, 2097 (euaggelízō) refers to sharing the full Gospel of Christ – literally, “gospelizing” that announces the complete message of “the good news” (the Lord’s glad tidings).

We use the word Gospel, which means good news.  There are other references to the good news in the New Testament. One is the Good News of the Kingdom of God.  The context of this term is connected to Jesus casting out spirits, healing sickness and oppression.  There is a reference to the gospel of salvation.

The Father sent Jesus to save the lost.  The first Adam was created out of the Earth to exist as a type of Jesus.  The natural has to exist first and then the spiritual.  The first Adam caused all to be transgressors and the second Adam caused all that would believe all to be righteous.

  • Jesus came to proclaim:
  • Abundance in spirit
  • Freedom from bondage
  • Spiritual eyes of understanding
  • Removal of oppression
  • Acceptable year of the Lord

God wipes away every obligation and restores all things.  Jesus did this on the cross.  Adam believed the lie and the Devil became His father.  Jesus lived a sinless life in obedience to the Father.

Adam’s eyes were opened to know good and evil through transgression.  Jesus came to open our eyes to the truth in Revelation.  Adam’s transgression brought death.  Jesus bore our sin paying the penalty of death.

Jesus obedience brought forth life.  Adam was cursed, the animals were cursed and the ground was cursed.  Jesus bore the curse on the cross.

Jesus fulfilled the Law and triumphed over the devil.  The accuser was cast out of Heaven.  Jesus came to life again conquering death as the first fruits of the resurrection of the dead for those of us that believe to follow through faith. Jesus states that all authority has been given to Me in Heaven, Earth and under the Earth.  Behold I give authority to believers to cast out devil, tread upon serpents and to be my witnesses.

What is Evangelism?

Evangelism is the announcement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Strong’s Word Study:

“evangelize”– properly, an “evangelist”; someone with a vocational calling from God to announce the good news of the Gospel (Ephesians 4:11). Every Christian is called to share the Gospel, but “an evangelist” does so preaching the full message of Christ’s salvation.

There are three aspects to evangelizing:

  • The knowledge of sin
  • Repentance
  • Gospel message of God’s salvation

John 16:8 says, “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”  Mark 1:15 says, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

What is the Great Commission?

Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”  The great commission is God’s instruction for the kingdom of God to take over the Earth. Jesus called His 12 disciples to follow and Jesus taught them about the kingdom.  Jesus sent them out to testify of the good news of Jesus.

An individual must be born again through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.  This is when the individual starts to follow Jesus.  We are called out of this world system and into God’s kingdom.

We are in the world, and are not of it.  You are a child of God and are a minister of reconciliation.  The child of God is a disciple of Jesus and must learn to be a disciple in order to disciple others.

The child of God fulfills the great commission through evangelism.  Share with others about what God did in your life.  You can get baptized to show to others what God did inwardly through faith.

Disciple is a learner, student of Jesus Christ.  We must learn the foundations of scripture.  How to grow in the Spirit?  How to learn from the anointing?  Go out to the lost and make disciples to send out.  You always learn from the anointing.

Why Teach The Gospel?

1.) Jesus commands us to “Go to make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-49)

2.) God’s love influences us to reach the lost.  If God’s love doesn’t do it to you, then you should let it.  Thank God someone else listened and came to tell us.  God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever trusts in Him will never die. (John 3:16)  Love is a fruit of the Spirit that guides us as children of God. (Galatians 5:22)

3.) Compassion! Matthew 9:36 says, “When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

4.) He that wins souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30).

5.) Keep the unregenerate outside of Christ that are not Born Again out of hell.

6.) Freedom from sin and to know God.

We should ask God to send others to the lost (Luke 10:1).  We should fund the gospel as well.  God asked who would go for Me?   Here am I send me!

7.) How will they know without a preacher

Romans 10:12-17

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Our Purpose is to Preach the Gospel

Why am I Here?

You were put here to know God.  The Bible says that God knew you before you were formed in your mothers womb (Jeremiah 1:5).  The Lord know what you are going to be thinking before you think it.  God counts the hairs on your head.  He know what you are going to say before you say it (Psalm 139).  God cares for you and takes interest in you.

He has a plan for your life with a promising future (Jeremiah 29:11).  We are all born and sharpened in iniquity because of Adam’s sin that was passed to all mankind (Romans 5).  God sent His Son Jesus to take the penalty of our sins upon His sinless body that we could have freedom from sin.  God gives that forgiveness as a gift to anyone that will believe in His sacrifice for their sins.  You receive forgiveness through faith in Jesus.

Where am I going when I die?

There are two places that people could spend eternity.  The places are Heaven on earth in the future or in the lake of fire.  God did not prepare hell for mankind, but hell was prepared for the devil with the fallen angels.  Man was deceived into sinning, and God became a man to save us from our sins.  God made a way for us to escape punishment, because He loves us.

What is the Purpose Of my Life?

God created mankind to be literal children of God through His Son Jesus Christ.

What must we believe to be saved?

I Corinthians 15:3-6 says,
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. (KJV)

Romans 1:16 says,
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Jesus said, repent and believe the gospel.

1 Corinthians 1:17 says,
Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

How can I know Jesus?

Romans 10:8-13 says,
But what said it? The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. For the scripture said, whoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich to all that call on him. For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  • ACKNOWLEDGE that you are a sinner.
  • ASK God to forgive you for sin and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
  • REPENT by turning away from sin.
  • ACCEPT Jesus as your savior and Lord of your life.

Pray this prayer: Lord I am sorry for my sins.  Thank you for dying for my sins. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness.  Reject the old life of sin and give your life to you.  I ask you, Jesus to come into my heart.  I ask you to become the LORD of my life. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, then you are Born Again.  You have become a new creation in Christ Jesus.  God Bless You. Look for a local Christian Church that teaches that you must be born again to inherit the Kingdom of God.
