Simplicity in Gospel
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 says,
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
The simplicity is that it is faith alone for salvation.
Faith alone in Jesus
I Corinthians 2:2 says,
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
Galatians 6:14 says,
But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says,
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Faith alone through the grace of God is the gift of salvation.
Sabbath Rest in Jesus
Hebrews 4:9-10 says,
So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.
Everyday is sabbath rest for Christians.
Cost of following Jesus
Luke 14:25-30 says,
Now large crowds were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? “Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
The cost is relationships, persecutions, rejection of the world and disowning your old nature for new creation in the spirit. You must continue to follow and learn of the Lord.
John 8:31-32 says,
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
How to continue in the Word?
What are the three levels of scriptural comprehension:
- Knowledge of the Word is the testimony
- Understanding of the Word is the revelation
- Wisdom of the Word is the revelation received to strengthen your faith to grow
There is one interpretation of Scripture. It meant one thing to the people that it was written to in that time. Not what I think it means or you, but what the original language actually says to the persons that it is addressing in that time.
It only meant one thing to them in that situation. What it meant to them is what it means to us today. There is a revelation about Jesus in the scripture.
The knowledge of the word is what the original meaning is saying to us today. The understanding is the revelation of Jesus to us. We through faith receive the promise of Jesus in that text for spiritual growth to walk in wisdom of God.
There is not many applications and many ways to topically teach the text. This is why there is extreme spiritual ignorance and scriptural stupidity today. This results in making the scripture say whatever anyone wants it to mean.
How to receive scriptural revelation?
Jesus said, that you receive the keys to the kingdom to understand the mysteries of the kingdom. I Corinthians 2:13-14 says that the carnal man cannot understand the things of the spirit for they are spiritually understood. No one can understand what the spirit is saying except the spirit of God. When you receive the spirit, then the spirit can communicate those things to you through the spirit. This is a process. God opens our eyes to receive Jesus when we hear the Gospel. We receive the spirit in spiritual regeneration and then God reveals scripture to us through the spirit. The scripture tells us to exercise our spiritual senses for growth in spirit.
How to exercise spiritual senses?
The first thing to understand is you need to be born again to have spiritual senses. As believers in Christ we are a new creation. The old nature is cut away through the circumcision of spirit. We are now a spiritual race in the resurrected Jesus in the spirit.
We are His Body and He is in us. God gave us a new mind, heart and spirit. We carry around this crucified carcass that is crucified to:
- This world system
- Elements of this world
- Affections with their lusts
- Evil one
The walk is in reference to the realm of your identity:
We must test the spirit of truth and the spirit of error in people’s messages. We must know what it means to walk in the spirit and to walk in the flesh. If you are in Christ, then you are walking in spirit as a spiritual race through spiritual regeneration into the Body of Jesus in Heavenly places. If you are not in Christ, then you are in flesh, unregenerate, not born of God as a Earthly, natural race.
As a new creation in Christ the believer has spiritual senses now and the old nature with its five senses is crucified with Christ in His Crucifixion. You cannot grow the spirit through psychology, feelings, affections or any other element of this world system.
These things are for the old nature that is crucified with Christ. We are raised in the newness of life and we grow the spirit through faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. We grow our spirit by growing in the knowledge of the Lord through the Word of God. This is how we exercise our senses in the spirit by discerning good and bad doctrine.
What is the context of exercising our spiritual senses?
Hebrews 5:11-14 says,
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV)
Hebrews is saying that we become dull of hearing spiritually when we do not know the Word of God. We are spiritual babes. We are unskilled in the word of righteousness. The context is showing that the Hebrews were not moving past the types, pictures and shadows that were first principles that point to Christ to perfection through faith they were to learn again (Hebrews 6:1-2).
Hebrews 10:1 says, Christ is the evidence of those things hoped for and the substance of that faith of Old Testament types, pictures and shadows.
When we know the Word of God we can digest food moving past milk of first principles. We are skilled in Word of righteousness by habitually using spiritual perception this trains you to thoroughly discern good and evil.
There are three times that this word to thoroughly discern good and evil is used. We are to discern between spirits, not to pass discerning judgement against weaker believers and are to discern between good and evil doctrine. We will start with discerning the truth and the lie.
Believing the Lie opened their eyes
God told Adam not to eat the tree. Lucifer told Adam that his eyes would be opened like god to know good and evil. When Adam ate the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The eyes of Adam was opened to know good and evil becoming a son of disobedience by believing the lie. Their eyes were opened to the lie. 2 Peter 2:14 says, Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children. This word exercised is for gain and covetous practices as unregenerate cursed children of the god of this world system the Devil their father.
Believing the truth opened their eyes
When Jesus told the disciples on the road to Emmaus everything in the Law and the Prophets pertaining to Himself. It says that their eyes were opened with revelation of Christ. They believed the truth about the testimony of Jesus. When we hear the testimony of Jesus we are dealt a measure of faith. Our eyes are opened to the revelation of Jesus and we mix our hearing with faith to come to Christ as born again children of God. We are in Christ in the spirit and we can start to exercise our spiritual senses.
How do we grow in the spirit?
We grow our faith by using Divine logic from the Word of God. I Peter 1:2-3 says, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. The context talks about being born of God out of the incorruptible seed of the Word of God as newborn babes in Christ in the spirit to long for the pure Word of God. The word pure is without motives or twisting the Word to know what it is actually teaching to know the truth of the Word to grow your faith. We were born of the incorruptible seed of the Word of God and we mature through that same word of God.
The newborn that looks to follow men and not Christ for their faith are called carnal. They are called babes. They are called arrogant in the context if you continue reading. The arrogant person is the believer that follows men as their authority and not Christ. Christ died for them not the men that they were following. They are told to follow Christ. Carnal is another word for worldly. We are of a spiritual kingdom that is in heaven not of this world system that focuses on leadership of men that is worldly.
I Corinthians 3:1-4 says,
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? (KJV)
We are to point people to Christ for them to follow Christ. Paul says follow me as I follow Christ. See how I follow. Follow Christ the same way. We are not to follow men. 2 John 1:11 says not to share with sheeps in wolves clothing that preach another gospel, another spirit or another Jesus.
How can we know false spirit from truth?
Here are the some ways:
1.) They want preeminence among you
Colossians 1:18 says,
And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have preeminence.
We are to follow the head of the Church. The Church is the called out ones into the spiritual resurrected body of Jesus seated in the realm of the spirit. Our identity is in the person of Jesus. Jesus said, I will build my Church. The word there is not ecclesia. What it says, I will build house of Me and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. The body of Jesus. Jesus said, you tear down this body and in three days I will raise it a temple not made with hands.
There is no such thing as local Churches on Earth with men, only one body in Christ. There is one body, one faith, one calling, one Lord and God that we are called into through spiritual regeneration into the temple of the spirit. Local Churches started in 325 in the council of Nicaea. Constantine shifted Rome from a political hierarchy to a ecclesiastical hierarchy.
We continued the Catholic tradition after the reformation. Satan could not extinguish Christianity killing the Paul, Peter and the rest, 10 sets of persecutions from 68 to 313 and then he mimicked the calling out into the spirit as a physical church. Like the type of the temples. We carry the hierarchy of men, protestant popes and look to the type as tradition.
3 John 1:9 says,
I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
Follow no man only Jesus as your pastor: He is the true and faithful shepherd that laid His life for the sheep. The overseer of your soul. No man did this as Paul stated in I Cornthians 3. We are to serve one another in love on a lateral authority level under Jesus. Fellowship and mutual submission unto the Lord is strongly advised.
2.) Walk in spirit as spirit race in realm of spirit not in flesh unregenerate ouside of Christ
Walk In Spirit Or Flesh
Galatians 5 says,
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would. But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, impurity, licentiousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, wrath, selfishness, divisions, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, self-control: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Notice that those that are led in the spirit are not under the Law. We are not under the Law in Christ as a spiritual race. The Law is not for the righteous man, but the lawbreaker that is unregenerate. Romans 7 says that we perish to the Law when we marry Jesus through crucifying our flesh in the crucifying of Jesus. There is no Law in the fruit of the spirit, since we live in the spirit walk in the fruit of the spirit. Christ crucified it affections and lusts.
Romans 8 says, But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also bring to life your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. Those Led by the Spirit Are Sons of God For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, so that we may be also glorified together.
3.) Their message is the gospel not another gospel
Tree by its Fruit
Matthew 7 says,
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.
The other gospel calls the fruit the message that is preached shows what kind of tree it is. Is it a person of God or a person of the lie.
John 15 says,
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
4.) They are of the spirit of truth not of error
Spirit of Truth and Spirit of Error
I John 4 says,
Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God:
If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.
But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of error.
