Luke 9:23-24 says,
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
This is to reject yourself in this nature of sin to kill it through turning away from your life to turn to take the new life in Jesus. Taking the cross is spiritual regeneration into the crucifixion of Jesus and rising with God in the likeness of the resurrection. You remain in God from sunset to sunrise following until you leave this Earth.
Luke 9:57-62 says,
And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
One says I will follow you wherever you are. I am without any place to rest my head. You willing to have no place to rest your head. Another told Jesus. First let me go lay my father to rest. Jesus said, let the spiritually unregenerate lay to rest the spiritually unregenerate. You preach to those that are still alive that are unregenerate to get spiritually regenerate to live eternally or they too will perish. Another says first let me say farewell to my family that are unregenerate. Jesus said no one that puts their hand to the plow the field for a harvest for the kingdom looking to the cares of this life is fit for the realm of the kingdom of God in the spirit. The cost of following Jesus is that you are crucified to this world system and this world system to you. If you love the world, then the love of God is not in you. God is at enmity with the world and the world to God. We are in this world as light, we are not of it.
Unless you are willing to forsake family for Jesus then you are not worthy of Jesus. Christ came not for peace, to separate a father from a son and on and on. They are of the world and we are of God when you are saved.
Acts 16:21 says, And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. Acts 17:6 says, that they turned the world to chaos not listening to Caesar saying there is one king Jesus. The apostles were using ecclesia to tell Caesar that they were called out of this world into the spiritual realm. They only serve one king Jesus. The point is that the kingdom of God is not of this world system.
We are to continue to follow God. John 8:32 says, So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples.
A disciple is one that learns. What does it take to become a disciple? Luke 6:13 says, that Jesus called to Him the Disciples and also named them apostles. Discipleship consists of:
1.) The Call of Salvation
God calling one out of this world system into His kingdom. Another scripture says to call one out of darkness into light. I John 1:5, says, God is light and in Him, there is no darkness at all. We are called in Christ, who is Light.
Ephesians 2:8-14 says, For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. (KJV) Awaking from sleep is to be dead in the flesh, and to arise from the dead is the spiritual life in Christ. I Corinthians 15 says that Christ is a life giving spirit. When one answers the call to salvation, they are accepting salvation in Christ being born again.
What does born again mean?
John 3:3-6 says, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (KJV)
How does scripture define the born again experience?
Romans 6:3-6 says, Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (KJV) The scripture defines this as spiritual regeneration.
2.) Call To Salvation Cost
The gospel is simple, you only need to believe and receive Jesus in spiritual regeneration. Jesus was asked what works do I need to do for salvation. Jesus said this is the work to believe in the one whom the Father has sent referring to himself and to rest in My finished work on the cross. Salvation is free and it is a gift from God for as many as will believe. We are saved by grace through faith, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any should boast.
The Lord tells us that there are three costs to salvation:
A.) Division from Earthly Lineage And Spiritual Lineage
Luke 12:49-53 says, I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (KJV)
Matthew 8:20-21 says, And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. (KJV)
Did Jesus Mean That? Let’s see what Jesus said in Chapter 14. Luke 14:25-26 says, And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (KJV)
B.) Disown your Fleshly life to embrace the Spiritual life
Mark 8:38 says, And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. (KJV)
Deny himself is to disown your old nature and take up cross is to be crucified with Jesus (Born again).
C.) Reject this world system for Kingdom of God
John 15:18-19 says, If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (KJV)
James 4:4-5 says, Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? (KJV)
I John 4:5 says that if you speak from the worlds point of view and they listen to you, then you are of the world. The world loves their own.
Tradition says that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. Jesus says tell them the Gospel and if they reject it, then shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. When they stand before God to account for rejecting the Gospel saying, “Well I did not like the way that I heard the gospel.” The response! Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Tradition says let your life preach and if necessary use words. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God, not by looking at a man as a standard to follow. How will they hear without one testifying? The truth is black and white not grey. Jesus said I Am the way, truth and life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
Tradition says treat others the way that you want to be treated, this is the golden rule. Jesus called religious that used this type of terminology that is lawful, men full of dead man’s bones. Vipers! Looking to the law is like the blind leading the blind; they both fall into the ditch. Jesus said search the scriptures they testify of Me, but you will not come to Me for Life.
Jesus told the truth and tells us to testify the same way. Jesus was straight forward. Read what Jesus tells others. Jesus was not trying to be friendly to the world. Jesus was sent to bring the kingdom of God that is not of this world system.
Luke 8:19-21 says, Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him, but they were unable to reach Him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You.” But He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word of God and carry it out.”
3.) Call To Service
II Corinthians 5:16-18 says, Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
Cultivating The Spirit
1.) Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men
Jesus tells us what we are here for to become fishers of men. What does Jesus Teach them before He sends them out. Looking at the Gospels chronologically, this is what Jesus teaches the disciples before He sent them out:
A.) Expressing The Gospel
He went to Galilee, Capernaum, Jerusalem and in the temple. Judaea; He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar. Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee. He went up into a mountain. When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Jesus was entered into Capernaum. Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes. And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts. After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda. And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue. And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
B.) Experiencing The Gospel
1.) Jesus Has Authority Over Nature
The storm rages in the boat and they think they are going to die. The wake Jesus and He rebukes the storm and it ceases.
2.) Jesus teaching and casting out devils
Jesus eats with sinners to call them to salvation. Jesus teaches that He came to call sinners to repentance. (Luke 5) Jesus teaches the kingdom and cast out devils. He heals those oppressed and filled with devils. (Matthew 4) Jesus is accused of casting out devils as a devil. Jesus teaches that a house divided cannot stand. Satan would be working against Satan. Who do your children cast them out by? I cast them out by the Holy Spirit and the kingdom of God has come to you. How can you enter a strong mans house without first binding him to spoil his house. Jesus teaches that when that wicked spirit travels and finds no rest, then he will come back to where he was cast out. The person did not fill it with the spirit of God, will be taken over again with other spirits that are stronger than before. The state of that house will be worse off than it was before. (Matthew 12)
3.) Don’t Blaspheme the Holy Spirit
Rejecting Jesus’ revelation or attributing something that is of God to the devil will be eternal damnation. (Matthew 12)
C.) Effectual Gospel: Ask God For Open Doors For Good News
Jesus teaches them about the prayer. Jesus went into the wilderness to pray before he started the day. Jesus taught about fasting. (Luke 5) Jesus teaches that the harvest is great but the laborers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers.
1.) Knowledge Of Gospel (Regular Knowledge of the Lord)
John 5:39-40 says, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
A.) Jesus Teaches about New Birth in Spirit
Jesus teaches them about the wineskins. The wine is the spirit and the old wine skin (unregenerate nature) cannot contain the wine only the new wine skin (new nature in Christ). Jesus cleanses the temple and then refers to His body being tore down and raised up again. Jesus is showing that the new temple of His body is where we get our cleansing. (Luke 5; John 2) Jesus teaches them that they must be born naturally and from above for life. (John 3) The disciples went for food, but Jesus teaches the Samaritan woman that God will not dwell in the temple made with hands. You will worship God in spirit and in truth. (John 4)
B.) Jesus teaches about the will of God is the harvest
The disciple return with food. They ask Jesus about food. Jesus says that my food is to do the will of the one that sent Me and to finish His work. Jesus teaches them about the harvest of souls that need to be reaped with the gospel. (John 4)
C.) Sermon On The Mount
The sermon on the Mount is lessons in being religious. The Lord addresses the Pharisees and teaches the disciples that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the religious, then you will not enter Heaven. Context is extremely crucial here. The key to Gospels is dialogue. Who Jesus is addressing determines what it means. You must take the belief system of the sect for the right understanding. I will systematically go through the sermon on the mount to shed understanding. Here is an over view to follow. There are contrasts that are hard to see in the chapters, but I will show you.
1.) Jesus starts with Relationship is spiritual
Jesus starts with who beatitudes, which are manifestations of the Spirit. You will endure hardship for your new nature in the spirit. He says we are the salt of the Earth. Share the gospel face to face to open their spiritual eye for God to be in them to glorify God. This is what the Greek is saying.
2.) Jesus shifts from religion to relationship
He Says that He will fulfill the Law that we could not keep. He will be our righteousness. He addresses self righteousness. This is the Key: Unless your (Addressing Disciples) righteousness exceeds that of the religious, you will not enter Heaven. The righteousness is of Faith as you will see at the close of the sermon. He shows them their guilty by their thoughts they break the law. Jesus touches on a few of the commandments that they say that they keep. (Remember we are guilty of original sin of Adam, so trying to keep the law is futile for mankind) Jesus teaches what it means to be religious. Jesus teaches about loving enemies as a differentiator to the heathen that love those that love them. Don’t be like the religious.
3.) Religious and righteous judgment
Don’t judge by the standards of the law, you yourself would be guilty if that is your standard. You would be a hypocrite. The context of this judgment is through the law. There are brothers slandering by the law and it is written that God is the one Judge and lawgiver to save or destroy. This is in context to law. This does not mean that Christians cannot judge. Jesus makes a distinction about judgment from the flesh. (John 8:15)
There is righteous judgment that distinguishes between right and wrong scripturally. There are Judgments concerning those of faith handling settlements among themselves and not the heathen. Why? We will judge the world and angels according to the gospel, so you need to judge the things in this life as well. (I Corinthians 6:1-4)
4.) Jesus shifts from religious to reward
Jesus speaks about rewards on Earth or Heaven based on how you do things. If your offerings are in front of man to see, then you are rewarded. If you talk to God to be seen of men, then you receive your reward. What you do in secret will be rewarded. Store it up in Heaven you cannot keep rewards on Earth. You show where you look to for reward on Earth or Heaven. (Natural or eternal)
Don’t worry about your needs the lord knows them. God causes the birds to eat from what they do not sow. Don’t seek things like gentiles. Seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added to you. You cannot serve God and mammon. You will be devoted to one or the other. The word used is a slave.
5.) Jesus shifts from religion to redemption
There is a body of light and darkness. How to tell. The eye is the lamp of the body. If the eye (mental perception) is evil (unregenerate), then the body is full of darkness. If the eye is whole (regenerate), then the body is full of light (revelation of God’s self existent life that is received through Christ). (Natural or Eternal)
Jesus teaches that you receive the Holy Spirit by asking. Ask and it will be opened to you. Seek and you will find it. Jesus then teaches that the gate to life is narrow and few find it, but the gate to hell is broad.Jesus teaches that you will know them (Real or false) by their fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. The emphasis is on the tree. The message is the fruit. You will know them by their message. The appearance is that they are a sheep, but the nature is a wolf. The way to tell is the message comes from within and when it comes out it reveals the type of tree. Jesus concludes by saying not everyone that calls me Lord shall go to Heaven. I cast out devils in your name. I never knew you.
Jesus ends with the one that hears his teachings and does them. The context is saying that when you hear the gospel, you do it by coming to Jesus. Those that come to me will be like a house built on the rock that will stand against the storm. Those that do not come to Me will be like a house built on sand that will fall when the storm comes. (Matthew 5-7)
D.) Lord of Sabbath
Jesus teaches the disciples that Sabbath rest is for man to receive life and healing. He is Lord of the Sabbath. (Matthew 12) Jesus teaches that no one saw the Father except the Son and no one the Son except the Father. No one can know Him unless I reveal Him. Come to Me, you who labor and you will get rest (Sabbath Rest).
E.) Jesus Equal To God
The Father has sent Me to Finish His Work. I only say and do what the Father says and does. There are four that bear witness that the Father sent Me. John the Baptist, the works that I Do, The Father and the scripture testify of Me. You search the Scripture because you think that these contain eternal life, but these are those that testify of Me. You will not come to Me for eternal life. (John 5)
This is the knowledge
2.) Understanding Of Knowledge (Spiritual Revelation of That Knowledge Of The Lord)
We are carnal sold under sin. When the Spirit of God regenerates us, we become a new creation in Christ. We receive the Spirit of God. The natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit, because He has not God’s Spirit. The Spirit reveals it to those with the Spirit of God.
I Corinthians 2:10-14 says, But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Matthew 13:10-16 says, And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
A sower went forth to sow seed (Word Of God)
I.) Seeds fell and fowls devoured. Anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.
Devil: Snatches away Word before revelation
Devil is an enemy to your Spirit Life
II Corinthians 2:11 says, But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (KJV)
How does the Devil do this?
II Corinthians 4:3-4 says, But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (KJV) The Law of Old Testament is a veil that the enemy uses to blind others from truth.
II Corinthians 3:14-16 says, But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. (KJV)
How is the devil overcome?
I John 5:18-20 says, We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (KJV)
II.) Some fell where they had not much earth: they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. The same is he that heareth the word, and with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Flesh: Temptation and fall
Note: There are only two that one can serve: The devil is over unregenerate sin natured flesh from Adam or the Father in Heaven over the regenerated in spirit race in Christ. Whatever is born of flesh is flesh and whatever is born of spirit is spirit (John 3). If Christ is not in you, then you are in the flesh. These are those that live according to the flesh, set their mind on the flesh and walk in the flesh. these are the unregenerate carnal in mind that are not subject to God or can be right with God. If Christ is in you, then you are in the Spirit. These are the regenerate in Christ that set their mind on things above, walk in spirit, do righteousness and walk in the light. (Romans 8:1-11) Conclusion: Walking in the Spirit is to be born again or walking in the flesh is to be unregenerate in the old sin nature, it is a state of being.
Flesh is an enemy to your Spirit life
Galatians 5:17 says, For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. (KJV)
How are we tempted?
James 1:14-15 says, But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (KJV)
Galatians 5:19-21 says, Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
It could manifest in these ways as well. Colossians 2:18 says, Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. Jude 1:16 says, These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
How does flesh cause us to reject Christ?
Hebrews 3:12-14 says, Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end. (KJV)
How is the flesh overcome?
Romans 6:6-14 says, For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (KJV)
We need to renew our minds according to the Spirit
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
III.) Some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
World System: Cares of this world and deceitfulness of wealth
I John 2:15-16 says, Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (KJV)
Hebrews 9:1, 11 says, Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. (KJV)
Galatians 3:24-25 says, Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (KJV)
Wisdom of this world System
James 3:14-15 says, This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. (KJV)
I Corinthians 1:19-24 says, For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (KJV)
The Gospel of Jesus is the wisdom and power of God. (I Corinthians)
Colossians 2:8 says, Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (KJV)
Religion and doctrines of men
Colossians 2:20-22 says, Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. (KJV)
How do we overcome the world?
I John 5:4 says, For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (KJV)
IV.) But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Tree (Good: Regenerate or Corrupt: Unregenerate) Fruit (Message: Gospel)
The kind of tree is determined in the fruit (message) that it produces. A good tree is planted by the father in Heaven and speaks from its source. The bad (corrupt: unregenerate) tree speaks from its resources the father of lies. The context goes further to show that not all that call Me Lord will enter Heaven. Jesus finishes by saying that He never knew them. The tree was unregenerate in flesh, not a spiritual regenerate tree in Christ. The message is the fruit. (Luke 6:43-45; Matthew 12:31-36, 15:13; John 8:44)
Fruit stems from the source:
John 15:1-6 says, I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (KJV)
Fruit is the message
Luke 4 says, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Gospel results in these things:
Fruit unto repentance
Luke 3:8 says, Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say to you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. (KJV)
Fruit unto salvation
John 5:39-40 says, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. Be a hearer of the Word only, but a doer by coming to the Lord. (Luke 6; James 1:22)
Fruits of righteousness
Philippians 1:11 says, Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Hebrews 12:11 says, Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. (KJV)
Matthew 13:24-30 says, Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed (Son of Man) good seed of wheat (Children of the kingdom) in his field (World): But while men slept, his enemy (Devil) came and sowed tares (Children of the wicked one) among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest (End of the world): and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers (Angels), Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them (Furnace where there is gnashing of teeth): but gather the wheat into my barn (Righteous will shine forth with the Father). (KJV)
Galatians 1:6-9 says, I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (KJV)
II Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15 says, But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (KJV)
Matthew 7:15 says, Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (KJV) Jude 4 says, For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV) Acts 20:29 says, For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (KJV) III John say, I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. (KJV)
How can you tell the difference between true and false teachers?
I John 4:1-6 says, Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (KJV)
How will they deceive?
Acts 15:1 says, And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. (KJV)
I Timothy 3:3-5 says, If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (KJV)
Titus 1:10-16 says, For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. (KJV)
How to spot the tares among the children of light
Titus 3:9-11 says, But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. (KJV)
I Corinthians 5:11-13 says, But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. (KJV)
II Timothy 4:3-4 says, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (KJV)
II Timothy 3:1-8 says, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. (KJV)
3.) Wisdom is receiving the revelation through faith
The scripture makes us wise for salvation. The one that wins souls is wise. Christ is the wisdom of God. Christ in us is wisdom and testifying to others to come to God. This is everything that Jesus taught the 12 and then sent them out.
Matthew 9:35-38 says,
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”
Luke 9:1-6 says,
Then Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and power to cure diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. “Take nothing for the journey,” He told them, “no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that area. If anyone does not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that town, as a testimony against them.” So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
